바르고 참된 교회는 어떤 교회인가. 그리스도의 삶과 교훈에 근거한 성경적인 교회는 무엇인가. 우리는 그러한 교회에 대하여 배우고 힘써 세워 가야 한다. 그것은 교회 성격상 외적 요인에 있지 않다. 그것은 교인수나 재정 등의 물량적인 것에 있지 않다. 바른 교회는 그 성격상 영적인 요인에 의해서 좌우된다. 그래서 성경적인 교회는 성령충만한 교회이다. 성령과 말씀의 권능으로 그리스도가 함께 하고 역사하는 교회가 주님 앞에서 참된 교회다. 오늘 성경은 성경적인 바른 교회를 말하고 있다. 그 교회는 최초의 교회인 예루살렘 교회다. 우리는 예루살렘 교회를 통해서 성령충만한 교회를 배울 수 있다.
성령충만한 교회는 성령이 각 사람 마음에 주는 경건한 두려움이 있다(43절). 교회는 세상과 다르다. 믿음으로 성령을 받은 사람들의 모임이다. 그래서 성령은 우리에게 하나님을 두려워 하는 마음을 준다. 모든 성도가 경건한 두려움을 갖고 주님 앞에서 예배할 때에 성령충만한 교회가 된다. 동시에 처음교회는 기사와 표적이 많이 있었다. 주님께서 행하신 표적이 사도들을 통해서 나타났다. 이러한 기적과 표적은 성령의 역사다. 주님은 사도들에게 성령을 보내 주신다고 약속하셨다(행 1:6-8). 사도들은 약속하신 성령을 받았다. 그 성령은 주님의 권능의 나타남이다. 사도들은 성령의 능력으로 기적을 행하면서 복음을 전했고 그리스도의 증인이 되었다. 지금 교회는 예루살렘교회처럼 기적이 많이 일어나지 않는다. 하지만 성령이 주시는 능력과 치유의 은사를 통해서 기적은 계속되고 있다.
성령충만한 교회는 한 마음으로 모이기를 힘쓰는 교회다(44, 46절). 성령은 성도들의 마음이 하나가 되게 한다. 성령은 모든 성도가 같은 믿음의 마음, 사랑의 마음, 선한 마음, 거룩한 마음, 화평의 마음을 갖게 한다. 그래서 온 교회가 하나되게 한다. 우리교회는 성령이 주는 한마음공동체다. 모두가 한 마음과 한 뜻으로 주를 섬겨야 한다. 그러면 우리교회는 성령충만한 교회가 된다. 또한 우리는 주님의 마음을 가지고 서로 사랑하면서 모이기를 힘써야 한다. 우리가 서로 미워하고 시기하고 뒷담하면 그것은 성령이 아닌 악한영의 역사다. 우리는 한 마음, 한 몸 공동체로서 모든 예배와 성경공부 그리고 교회의 행사에 함께 참여하기를 노력해야 한다. 여기에 성령충만한 교회의 모습이 있다.
예루살렘교회는 서로 사랑하는 교회다. 그들은 주님의 계명을 순종하여 가난한 형제를 사랑하고 섬겼다. 그래서 소유가 넉넉한 성도들은 자기의 재산을 팔아서 필요한 사람들에게 주었다. 성령충만한 교회는 주님의 계명을 순종하여 형제를 사랑하는 교회다. 성령은 사랑의 영이다. 성령은 사랑의 하나님과 주님을 본받아서 살게 한다. 그래서 성령은 우리 마음에 사랑의 마음을 준다. 성령이 주는 사랑의 마음은 주님처럼 모든 것을 아끼지 않고 형제를 위해 사용하게 한다. 성령은 소유를 내 것으로 여기지 않게 한다. 성령이 충만하면 모든 소유를 주님이 주신 것으로 생각한다. 그래서 우리는 주님의 뜻대로 소유를 사용한다. 우리는 주님이 나를 사랑하신 그 사랑을 잊지 말아야 한다. 우리는 목숨까지 나를 위해 버리신 예수님의 사랑을 받았다. 우리는 받은 그 사랑을 기억하며 형제를 사랑해야 한다. 우리는 내가 가지고 있는 것으로 서로 돕고 섬겨야 한다. 형제가 필요한 것이라면 무엇이든지 함께 나누어야 한다. 그러면 우리 교회는 예루살렘교회처럼 성령충만한 교회가 된다.
성령충만한 교회는 기쁨과 순수한 마음을 가진 교회다. 예루살렘교회는 성령이 주는 한 마음으로 주를 순종하면서 주님의 기쁨이 충만했다. 우리 교회는 성령의 기쁨이 충만해야 한다. 그것은 세상이 주는 기쁨이 아니다. 그 기쁨은 성령께서 믿는 자에게 주시는 하늘의 기쁨이다. 그것은 믿음에 기초한 의와 거룩한 기쁨이다. 또한 우리는 성령이 주는 순수한 마음을 가져야 한다. 성령은 우리 마음을 순수한 주님의 말씀으로 인도한다. 그래서 우리가 순수하신 하나님 앞에 서게 한다. 성령은 순수한 마음으로 주를 찬송하고 예배하게 한다. 세상의 더러움을 피하여 때가 묻지 않는 교회가 성령충만한 교회다. 우리는 어린 아이같은 주님의 순수한 마음으로 형제 사랑을 나누어야 한다.
성령충만한 교회는 하나님을 찬송는 교회다. 주님이 베풀어 주신 은혜와 사랑에 감사하며 찬양하는 교회다. 우리 교회는 사랑의 하나님을 주님의 이름으로 찬송하는 교회가 되어야 한다. 또한 성령충만한 교회는 칭찬 듣는 교회다. 예루살렘교회는 모든 사람들이 칭찬했다. 그 이유는 주님의 사랑을 실천했기 때문이다. 그들은 세상 사람들과 달랐다. 그들은 자기 소유권을 포기하고 재물로 형제를 지원했다. 그들은 서로 사랑하며 기쁨과 순수한 마음으로 교제했다. 이러한 교회의 모습은 사람들에게 신선하게 다가 갔다. 사람들은 한 마음으로 사랑과 선을 행하는 예루살렘교회를 칭찬했다. 우리교회도 칭찬듣는 교회가 되어야 한다. 예루살렘교회처럼 주를 본받아서 형제를 사랑하며 기쁨과 순수한 마음으로 교제하면 사람들은 칭찬하게 될 것이다.
성령충만한 교회는 주님께서 구원 받는 사람을 더하는 교회다. 구원은 주님의 권능이다. 예루살렘교회는 매일 믿는 사람이 늘어났다. 이것은 주님의 역사이다. 우리가 성령충만하여 구원의 주님을 잘 순종하면 주님은 구원 받는 사람을 보내 주신다. 우리는 성령충만하여 주님을 잘 받들어 섬겨야 한다. 우리는 주님으로부터 받은 사랑을 한 몸 지체된 형제에게 베풀어야 한다. 우리 교회는 성령충만한 교회로 서야 한다. 그래서 우리는 주님의 증인되는 사명을 잘 감당해야 한다.
Spirit-Filled Church (Acts 2:43-47)
What is an upright and true church? What kind of church is a Biblical church based on the life and teachings of Christ? We must learn about and make every effort to build such a church. Such a church does not rely on things that can be seen. It does not depend on the number of members, financials, or quantity. A church is upright based on spiritual factors. Therefore, a Biblical church is a Spirit-filled church. True church is one in which Jesus Christ dwells and works through the Holy Spirit and the word of God. Today’s passage talks about the Biblical church. It is the very first church, the church of Jerusalem. We are able to learn about the Spirit-filled church through the church of Jerusalem.
In a Spirit-filled church, the Holy Spirit stirs spiritual fear in each believer’s heart (43). Church is different from the world. It is a gathering of people who received the Holy Spirit through faith. So the Holy Spirit gives us a heart that fears God. The church is full of the Holy Spirit when all the believers worship before the Lord with spiritual fear. At the same time, there were many miracles and signs in the first church. Signs that Jesus performed were revealed through the apostles. Such miracles and signs are the work of the Holy Spirit. The Lord promised to send the Holy Spirit to his apostles (Acts 1:6-8). And the apostles received the promised Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the Lord’s power in action. The apostles preached the gospel by performing miracles through the power of the Holy Spirit and became Christ’s witnesses. In today’s church, not many miracles are performed as in the church of Jerusalem. However, miracles continue to happen through the Spirit-given power and gift of healing.
A Spirit-filled church is one in which the believers make an effort to gather with one accord (44, 46). The Holy Spirit makes all the believers have one mind. It makes the believers have the mind of faith, love, goodness, holiness, and peace. Thus, the entire church becomes one. Our church is a community of one mind given by the Holy Spirit. Each and every one of us has to serve the Lord with one accord. Then our church will be full of the Holy Spirit. Moreover, we ought to have the mind of Christ and love each other and make an effort to gather together. If the church members hate and envy each other and talk behind each other’s back, they lack the Holy Spirit – rather, these come from the evil spirit. As a community of one accord and one body, we must make every effort to participate in all the worship service, Bible study, and church events. Such is the church that is full of the Holy Spirit.
The church of Jerusalem loved one another. They obeyed the Lord’s commands and loved and served brothers and sisters in need. Those who had great possessions sold their possessions to distribute to those in need. A Spirit-filled church is one that loves brothers and sisters in obedience to the Lord. The Holy Spirit is the spirit of love. The Holy Spirit makes us become like the God of love and gives us the mind of love. The mind given by the Holy Spirit makes us not spare our possessions but use them for our brothers and sisters. The Holy Spirit makes us not consider our possessions as our own, but consider them as something given by God. Thus, we use our possessions according to the Lord’s will. We must not forget the love by which our Lord loved us. We received love from Jesus who did not spare his life for us. We must love our brothers and sisters, remembering the Lord’s love. We have to serve one another with what we possess. We have to share what we have if our brothers and sisters need them. Then, our church will be filled with the Holy Spirit like the church of Jerusalem.
A church filled with the Holy Spirit is one that has joy and pure heart. The church of Jerusalem obeyed the Lord with one mind given by the Holy Spirit and they were filled with the Lord’s joy. Our church must also be filled with the joy of the Holy Spirit. This joy is not like the joy from the world. This joy is one given by the Holy Spirit to those who believe. This joy is one of righteousness and holiness that is based on faith. We must also possess a pure heart given by the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit leads our heart to the Word of the Lord that is pure. Thus we stand before God who is pure. The Holy Spirit makes us praise and worship the Lord with pure heart. The church that stays away from the world’s uncleanness and stays pure is the church that is Spirit-filled. We must love one another with the Lord’s pure heart like little children.
A church filled with the Holy Spirit is one that praises God. It is the church that gives thanks and praises to the Lord for his grace and love. Our church must become one that praises the God of love in the name of the Lord. Moreover, a church filled with the Holy Spirit is one that receives compliments. The church of Jerusalem was complimented by everyone because they put into practice Christ’s love. They were different from the world. They sold all their possessions and helped their brothers and sisters. They loved one another and associated with each other with joy and pure heart. They had a good impression on the outsiders. Thus, the outsiders complimented the church of Jerusalem who acted with love and goodness. Our church must also become a church that is complimented. If we become like the church of Jerusalem and imitate our Lord and love our brothers and sisters with joy and pure heart, we will receive compliments from outsiders.
A church filled with the Holy Spirit is one where the Lord adds more members who are saved. Salvation is the power of the Lord. The number of believers increased in the church of Jerusalem. This is the work of the Lord. When we are filled with the Holy Spirit and obey the Lord of salvation, the Lord sends people who are saved. We have to be filled with the Holy Spirit and serve the Lord. We must love our brothers and sisters who are of one body with the love we have received from the Lord. Our church must stand filled with the Holy Spirit and fulfill our calling as the Lord’s witnesses.
