\ud55c\ub2e4.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Deliverer<\/strong> (Judges 3:15 &#8211; 17)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There is a saying that a hero arrives in the nick of time. During the Imjin War, Admiral Yi Sun-shin saved the country from a crisis. With only 12 ships, Yi defeated the Japanese armed forces who came with 133 ships. The book of Judges records the reiterations of God\u2019s punishment for Israel\u2019s sin, Israel\u2019s repentance, and God\u2019s deliverance. Today\u2019s passage is a scene in such a context. It records the emergence of a deliverer in a national crisis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As God\u2019s chosen and holy people, Israel had to live a distinguished life. That is, they had to fear God and obey his words. However, they were disobedient. They committed sin before God. Israel\u2019s sin eventually brought about God\u2019s wrath and punishment. We also are the Lord\u2019s holy people and children, and must live a distinguished life. We must obey God\u2019s word by faith. If we do not repent of our sins, we will have to receive the consequences of disobedience. Sin throws ourselves, our family, and our country into difficulties. Not only so, but it destroys the spirit. One person\u2019s sin brought death to all people (Romans 5:12).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As a punishment for Israel\u2019s sin, he made their enemies strong. He provoked the king of Eglon to form allied forces with Amon and Amalek and attack them. So Israel\u2019s land was taken by their enemies. When we depart from faith and disobey, the Lord weakens our spiritual strength. As a result, we succumb to the temptations of our enemy, the world and the evil power. A Christian\u2019s war is not a physical one. It is a war with invisible spiritual forces. When we obey by faith, we will become spiritually strong. And we will be able to defeat our enemies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Israel was subject to their enemy, the king of Moab, for 18 years. Korea was subject to Japan for 36 years. Korean citizens had rejected the gospel and persecuted the missionaries. So God had brought punishment accordingly. Israel cried out to God in anguish due to God\u2019s wrath. They cried and desperately prayed, \u2018We are sorry, Lord. We have sinned. Please forgive us. Please save us!\u2019 We must remember\u2013we must be quick to depart from sin. We must be quick to kneel before God and confess our sins. We must repent, pray, and obey. Then the Lord will reach out his hand of deliverance.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now God sent a deliverer. He was Ehud, a left-handed Benjamite. In Egypt, the Israelites cried out to God in anguish due to Pharoah\u2019s oppression. So God sent Moses as their deliverer. God appointed David as a deliverer in Israel\u2019s fight against Goliath the Philistine. For the Independence Movement Day in Korea, God appointed Gwan-soon Yu, who sacrificed her life for the country. God sent our deliverer Jesus Christ for us who were bound to sin and death.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ehud brought a tribute to Eglon, king of Moab. This is a tragedy. Israel, whose land was taken away, was strengthless. So they paid tribute to their enemy. Korea also paid tribute to Japan. Japan conquered Korea and forcibly seized people, and robbed the country of the underground resources, forest resources, and food. When we depart from faith and the word of God, our enemies can rob us. They will become strong and control our spirits. But we will be strengthless to resist. Therefore, we must be alert and pray so that we do not provide our enemy an opportunity to conquer us. We must become strong.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ehud strapped a 45cm double-edged sword on his right thigh under his clothing and went to the king of Moab to pay tribute. Eglon king of Moab was very insensitive. After paying him tribute, he left the king\u2019s presence but then returned to him and said \u2018I have a secret message for you.\u2019 Then the king told his attendants to leave them. Now only Ehud and the king were in the room, and as Ehud was saying \u2018I have a message from God for you,\u2019 he drew his sword from his right thigh and plunged it into the king\u2019s belly. The sword sank in and his bowels discharged. He left the sword sunken in, and locked the door and went out to the porch. When the king\u2019s servants noticed that the king was inactive for a long time, they unlocked the door and went in. The king had already died. Ehud called together the Israelites. He took the lead in paying back their enemy. They took over the fords of the Jordan and the Israelites killed ten thousand Moabites. As a result, Moab was made subject to Israel and Israel enjoyed 80 years of peace.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We must remember that we have to fight our enemy as soldiers of the Lord who saved us. To do that, we must first obey the Lord who is our Savior and leader in faith. At the same time, we must arm ourselves with faith, God\u2019s Word and prayer as spiritual soldiers of God\u2019s Kingdom. We must fight for the Lord and his kingdom. Thus, we must always triumph and glorify the Lord. We must fix our thoughts on Jesus who died on the cross for our sins (Hebrew 3:1). We must live a holy life of righteousness before the Lord. We must overcome our enemy, the world and the evil power.
