are great and of high positions. Those who are respected and welcomed in this world are the famous, the popular, and the rich. On the other hand, the world despises and disdains the weak. There was a customer who arrived at a hotel with a cheap used car. The guides did not care about the customer. But a few minutes later, a customer with an expensive, high-class car came to the hotel. The guides immediately ran to the car, greeted the customer respectfully, and guided him. Jesus is the opposite of the world. Jesus welcomes and cherishes the despised, the least, and the outcasts. Today\u2019s passage tells us this.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Verse 40 says, \u201cThe King will reply\u201d. <em>The King<\/em> refers to Jesus who will be coming as the Judge. Jesus is the king of kings and will come as the Judge. And all people will be judged according to what they have done (2 Corinthians 5:10). Jesus says in today\u2019s passage, \u201c&#8230;whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.\u201d Who is the least of these? They are those who believe in the Lord Jesus Christ. They are God\u2019s children and Jesus\u2019 brothers and sisters. Jesus is the Son of God. The Bible describes Jesus as the firstborn (Romans 8:29). We who believe in Jesus Christ are the children of God (Romans 8:14-17; Galatians 4:5-6). So Jesus calls believers who are saved his brothers. The least of these is the brothers and sisters of Jesus and of faith.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Among the believers there are people who have power, are wealthy, famous, and outstanding. On the contrary, there are those who are strengthless, poor, and unknown. These people are disregarded both inside and outside the church. However, Jesus says that those who love the least of these will be blessed by God the Father (34). People who will receive blessing by the God of blessing are those who love, care for, and serve the least of the brothers and sisters. There was a believer named Tabitha in the early church. She served the poor and the needy and always did good. But she died of a sickness. So the people who received her help and love while she was alive called Peter, who prayed for her and she was raised to life. People who will receive the kingdom of heaven as an inheritance are those who love and look after the least of the brothers and sisters (34). Jesus gave us life by giving up his own life for us, who were destined to die from sins and transgressions. Jesus looked after and loved the least of these. He is the king of heaven.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Verses 35-39 explain the things that are done to the least of these. The least of these are people who are hungry. There are people who have an overflowing amount of food. But there are others who don\u2019t have much to eat and aren\u2019t able to eat properly. Korea was very poor before the 1980s. So there were many people and families who could not eat properly. As a result, there were many who suffered from malnutrition. Even today, there are people who miss a meal or two daily. Giving people who are hungry food to eat is doing so to Jesus. Moreover, people who give something to drink to those who are thirsty do so to Jesus. The least of these is a foreigner. They could be homeless. Welcoming people who are homeless into home is doing so to Jesus. Further, people who are sick and have disabilities are the least of these. They are brothers who suffer physically and mentally. Those who care for these brothers receive heavenly blessings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The least of these are also people who don\u2019t have good clothes to wear. These days, there are relatively large amounts of clothes. But in the \u201880s, the poor did not have proper clothes to wear. They wore ragged clothes, ripped clothes that they patched, and clothes that were handed down by older siblings. New clothes were only worn by people who were wealthy. Believers who give these people clothes to wear are those who will be blessed by God the Father. And people who are in prison are the least of these. Visiting and looking after those who are imprisoned from preaching the gospel and living for the Lord, or because of unfortunate circumstances are doing so to Jesus. Peter was imprisoned twice, and Paul was imprisoned many times. Onesiphorus visited Paul frequently and comforted him (2 Timothy 1:16-18). Paul did not forget about it and prayed that God\u2019s mercy be with Onesiphorus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The least of these are the brothers and sisters who are going through hardships and need help. They are people who are despised, mistreated, and rejected. Paul confessed that he was hungry, in rags, brutally treated and homeless (1 Corinthians 4:11-13). Paul said he was treated like the scum of the earth, the garbage of the world. These are the least of the people. And we must remember, what we do to the least of the brothers and sisters and churches, we do to Jesus because the body and parts of Jesus are the brothers and the church. Looking after the brothers and sisters and churches who are going through hardships is a very precious and blessed thing. It is an act of love. It is the true living faith.
