And He, who created them, wants them to receive blessings. The Bible says, \u201cThe Lord bless you\u201d (Numbers 6:24); \u201cMay the Lord bless you from Zion, who is the Maker of heaven and earth\u201d (Psalms 134:3); \u201cFor my Father\u2019s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day\u201d (John 6:40). The God of blessing wants his people and children to be blessed. Today\u2019s passage tells us the blessed life that God gives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>God wants his beloved people Israel to listen to his word and obey (v12). The blessings in the Bible are all related to the word of God. God is the Lord of all blessings. He wants us to listen to the word of blessing. Even today our Lord wants his beloved children to first listen attentively to his word, because without hearing, we cannot know. So the Bible says that those who hear are blessed (Revelations 1:3). We must listen to receive blessings. We can hear the word through the Scriptures. Moreover, we hear through sermons and Bible studies. We ought to listen well and wholeheartedly. We should turn our ears to the Word with a humble mind. Listening well is the way to receive blessings. The Israelites in the Old Testament refused to listen. So they were not able to receive the blessings of God. We should take on the attitude of a good listener.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>God gives blessings to those who listen to his word and put it into practice (v12). If we just stop at listening and do not put the word into practice, we fall short of receiving the blessings. As a necessary precondition for receiving the blessings, God wants us to obey. There are no blessings without obedience. God gives blessings to those who obey (Deuteronomy 4:40; 5:33; 6:3). Obedience is the shortcut to blessings. God gives eternal blessings to those who obey the word to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ (Acts 16:31). Jesus told a blind man to go to Siloam and wash his eyes. He obeyed and as a result, was able to see. And Jesus obeyed to death, giving us the eternal blessing as a result. We must remember that there is no blessing apart from obedience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>God grants the blessing of the fulfillment of his word to those who obey. Obedience enables us to see the fulfillment of the Word in our lives and families. Obedience leads to a blessed life along with the word of blessing. Peter was not able to catch any fish with his own effort. However, when he obeyed the Lord, he caught so much fish that he could not lift the net. So he received the blessing of the fulfillment of the Word. Jesus bestows love without limit to those who obey. He loves those who obey his word (John 14:21, 23; John 15:10). We want to receive God the Father\u2019s and the Lord\u2019s love. The secret to this is in obedience. Without obedience, there is no love of God. We receive as much love as we obey. We must obey to receive an abundance of God\u2019s love.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jesus gives the blessing of prosperity to the obedient (v13). We want all that we do to go well and prosper. We want our children to prosper. Such life is in obedience. We want to receive more blessings than others, especially unbelievers. Unbelievers may be blessed with possessions. But they cannot receive the blessings that the believers get. We as God\u2019s children receive the blessings of forgiveness and of eternal life and heaven. We are supplied with what we need in life by the Father (Matthew 6:33). We enjoy the spiritual blessings of heaven. We enjoy grace, peace, joy, holiness, spiritual wealth and health in the Lord. We enjoy blessings in all things. We enjoy the blessing of prosperity through the blessings of the Lord (Joshua 1:5-11; Psalms 1:1-3; Psalms 128:1-6). We will enjoy blessings in all things and forever.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The life of obedience is followed by a blessing of health. Everyone wants to be healthy. We do not want to suffer illness, get hurt or feel pain. God of blessing wants his beloved children to enjoy blessings while we live on this earth (v15). Thus, God gives them a life without illness. God protects us from getting hurt or sick. God protects us from diseases or accidents that unbelievers face (Psalm 121:8). Obedience is the shortcut to health. Even when we are sick or get hurt, the Lord heals us speedily (Isaiah 58:8).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We must remember that there is no illness God cannot heal. God is the healer of all diseases. The Lord gives health to our souls. The health of our soul means the health of our body. Moses lived 120 years. Even at that age, he was strong and his eyes were good. We must remember that our health is in the Lord. Obeying the Lord\u2019s word leads to blessings on our spiritual and physical health. We must obey the Lord in order for our children and us to receive blessings. We must never forget that the blessings that God endows follow a life of obedience in faith.
