There are arrogant people in the Bible too. There are many people in this world whom God considers arrogant. The Scripture tells us how arrogance can be healed. Today\u2019s passage tells us that love is not arrogant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Arrogance brings others down in order to raise themselves up. An arrogant person thinks they are the best. They always put themselves in a high position and others in low positions. In Numbers, we can read about Korah and his followers. They raised themselves up and looked down on Moses and Aaron. They insisted that they deserve a high position like that of Aaron\u2019s. However, God punished them for their arrogance. The land swallowed them up. Arrogant people put themselves in the best position and have no respect for the authorities of the church that God has established. There is a man named Diotrephes during the first church in the Bible (3 John 1:9-10). He liked to be first. So he did not accept the apostles but insulted them. He even kicked out of the church those who tried to accept the apostles. An arrogant person looks down on God, church, and authorities. We must not be arrogant before God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Arrogance is not the mind of Jesus. The mind of Jesus is humility. An arrogant person does not have the mind of Jesus. They cannot learn from Jesus nor obey and imitate him. An arrogant person rejects the Lord and his teachings. When we learn about Jesus, obey him and imitate him, we become humble. Humble Jesus is the Lord of love. Humility is the shortcut to becoming like Jesus. As those who must live with the mind of the Lord, we must always be humble.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Arrogance is not a mind that comes from the Holy Spirit. Arrogance comes from the world and the sinful nature. The Holy Spirit makes one humble. The Holy Spirit makes us stand in lowly positions. The Holy Spirit makes us live with the mind of the Lord Jesus Christ. When we receive the Holy Spirit and live by it, we become humble. Arrogance shows that one is not living by the Holy Spirit. The worldly spirit is the spirit of arrogance and disobedience. The Holy Spirit who dwells in us is a spirit of humility and obedience. We must live by the Holy Spirit and have a humble mind.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Arrogance is not a true faith. An arrogant person cannot stand before God. The proper and complete faith before God is humility. The Scripture says, \u201cGod saves the humble, but his eyes are on the haughty to bring them low.\u201d (2 Samuel 22:28). God brings arrogant people low. However, he raises the humble (Matthew 23:12; 1 Peter 5:6). We must not be arrogant so that we can enter God\u2019s glory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Disobedience is arrogance and sin. God considers disobedience as a huge arrogance and as despising him. A humble person listens and obeys the Lord. Jesus\u2019s twelve disciples were not arrogant. Even when the rest of the disciples left Jesus, they stayed by the Lord and accepted him. They said, \u201cLord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.\u201d (John 6:68). Starting from Adam to many of the Jews to today\u2019s unbelievers, many are arrogant and deny obedience. When we resist listening to the Word of God and obeying, we fall into the trap of arrogance. In order not to be arrogant, we must obey in humility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>God does not like arrogant people. The Scripture says, \u201cThere are six things the LORD hates, seven that are detestable to him: haughty eyes\u201d (Proverbs 6:16-17). God says, \u201cI hate pride and arrogance\u201d (Proverbs 8:13). God is pleased with humility. However, arrogance makes God angry. Thus, arrogance is the spearhead of destruction. \u201cBefore destruction a man&#8217;s heart is haughty, but humility comes before honor\u201d (Proverbs 18:12). Arrogance is the shortcut to ruining one\u2019s life. Due to arrogance, King Saul and his three sons died in one day. For the prosperity of our own lives and the lives of our descendants, we must not be arrogant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Arrogance is self-centered. Arrogant people insist on their standpoint and opinions. They do not listen to others\u2019 viewpoints, circumstances, or opinions. They always put themselves in the center of everything. They reject the advice of the Bible and the pastor. They focus only on seeking their joy, glory, honor, and benefits. Love is not arrogant. A person who has love humbles themselves before God and others. They obey the Word of God and receive love from God and people. Jesus humbled himself and obeyed to death (Philippians 2:5-11). But God lifted him up exceedingly. Jesus received honor and glory from God and people. We must remember: love is not arrogant. Love is humble. We must live with a humble mind, a mind of Jesus that the Holy Spirit gives us. Jesus of Humility who was crucified acted in love. He loved us and delivered us from sin and death.
