13:5)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Adam and Eve disobeyed God and ate from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. What enticed them? They fell into Satan\u2019s temptation that they would become like God if they ate from the tree. They sought their own good and disobeyed. This became sin. People instinctively seek their own good. However, love does not seek one\u2019s own good. Today\u2019s passage tells us about love that does not seek one\u2019s own good.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When a corrupt human seeks their own good, it\u2019s an instinctive and natural phenomenon. People seek and choose what is good, beneficial and helpful for themselves. For example, if we ask someone to choose between gold and silver, they would choose gold. If you ask someone to choose between $10 and $100, almost all people would choose $100. American professional baseball players negotiate their pay. They choose the team that pays them the most. Even today, people choose what is most beneficial to them throughout their lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Seeking one\u2019s own good is selfish according to the biblical teachings. This is seeking one\u2019s own good over others\u2019. This comes from people\u2019s corrupt instinct. Judas Iscariot sold Jesus for thirty pieces of silver. He thoroughly sought his own good. To be able to seek others\u2019 good, our spiritual instinct must change. Our corrupt instinct must be renewed. We must become new people with a new mind. Our values must be renewed. We must experience internal and spiritual change and rebirth. It is impossible to seek others\u2019 good any other way. By believing in Lord Jesus as our Savior, we are renewed by the Holy Spirit and the word of truth. A renewed person seeks love.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Seeking one\u2019s own good exclusively is a work of the flesh. This comes from sinful nature. This exists in the lives of unbelievers who belong to the world. Seeking one\u2019s own good leads to sin. This makes one sin and fall into sin. Bribery occurs when someone seeks their own good. The giver and receiver of the bribe both fall into sin. The one who commits a fraud is 100% seeking their own good. They are deceiving, extorting and harming others and becoming sinful. Deceptiveness comes from sinful nature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>God wants everyone to seek one another\u2019s good. The Bible tells us not to seek our own good but the good of others (1 Corinthians 10:24). The Bible tells us that when we seek another\u2019s good, we can save them (1 Corinthians 10:33). We have to seek others\u2019 good so they can be saved. When we seek others\u2019 good, we become like God the Father of love. God did not seek his own good. He gave his only son Jesus to die for us. We must become like God the Father and seek others\u2019 good.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One who is born again through the Holy Spirit seeks others\u2019 good. Jesus\u2019 life proves this. Jesus lived by the Holy Spirit. Through the life of the Holy Spirit, the Lord sought others\u2019 good only and gave up the good of his own life. Without asking for payment, Jesus healed others, helped them and saved them. Jesus sought others\u2019 good to the point of giving his life for them. Thus, Jesus saved us who were destined to die for our sins. Like the Lord, we must live by the Holy Spirit and seek others\u2019 good. We must give up our own good to save others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When we live by the Word of God, we seek others\u2019 good. Obedience is the life of love. Jesus obeyed the Word of God. His obedience was for the benefit of others. We must obey the command and word of God. We must thus seek others\u2019 good. We must serve others in love, help them, comfort them, raise them up, and deliver them in obedience to God. We must become like Jesus who sought others\u2019 good. As a good shepherd, Jesus laid down his life for us. That is why we received forgiveness and gained eternal life. Faith is learning about, obeying, becoming like, glorifying, pleasing, and testifying the Lord in whom we believe.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Love is seeking others\u2019 good. Seeking one\u2019s own good is loving oneself. Seeking others\u2019 good is loving God and others. As children of God the Father of love, we must love. As beloved Chrstians, we must live for the good of others. Even if we lose something or have no benefit, we must choose to seek others\u2019 good.
