struck the rock twice in anger. God had told him to just speak to the rock so water could gush out of it. But when Moses saw the Isrealites complaining, he was very angry. As a consequence of Moses&#8217; action, Moses was not allowed to enter the promised land. This was because Moses had disobeyed. Today\u2019s passage tells us that love is not easily angered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Being angry is closely related to seeking one\u2019s own good (in preceding passage). People get angry when they face loss. When they purchase an item for a higher price than someone else, they get angry. Regardless of the reason, people do not get angry over something that is beneficial to them. When someone purchases a house or a car at a cheap price, they are not angry about it.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Being angry is closely related to one\u2019s ability to control their emotions. One who can control their emotions does not get easily angered. People get angry when their feelings are hurt or they are having a bad time. People get angry when they hear something that makes them feel bad. King Saul returned from war after defeating Goliath and the Philistine army. A group of women welcomed King Saul and they sang, \u201cSaul has slain his thousands, and David his tens of thousands\u201d (1 Samuel 18:7). King Saul was angered at the lyrics and was concerned that David would take over his place.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some people get fiercely angry like fire. We call this rage. This happens when one fails to control their emotions. There is a disorder called anger control disorder. This makes a person get angry over trivial things. The Bible says, \u201cIn your anger do not sin. Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry\u201d (Ephesians 4:26). We should never remain angry the whole day. People get angry over a situation. The Israelites were angry and resentful in the desert when there was no water, food and the path was rough. People express their anger at home when they have a bad day outside. People get angry when things do not go as they wanted. When the neighborhood child is smarter than their own, people get angry at their own children. They tell their children, \u201cWhat have you been doing? How come your grade is lower when you put in similar effort?\u201d When their children do not perform up to their desire, parents get angry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Getting angry makes the other person feel bad and hurt. Thus, when one gets angry everyone involved gets angry. An argument between a wife and husband causes dissension. When a husband expresses anger, his emotions get passed on to the wife. So they end up arguing with one another. Anger gets passed on to the other person and leads to a big fight. \u201cA gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.\u201d (Proverbs 15:1). There are speeches that calm anger. We must speak these words instead.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">God\u2019s anger is different from that of a human. God\u2019s anger is righteous, holy, and sinless. God was angry and did not allow a certain group of Isarelites to enter Canaan. God\u2019s anger is anger against sin. God\u2019s holy anger stems from love. However, a man\u2019s anger comes from sinful nature. When people get angry, they sin. \u201cA man of wrath stirs up strife, and one given to anger causes much transgression\u201d (Proverbs 29:22). There was an incident where a wife murdered her violent husband in anger. She regretted her action in jail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Anger is related to patience. When one is patient, they can overcome anger. James said, \u201cMy dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires\u201d (James 1:19-20). When we feel angry, we have to be patient and resist anger. Patience brings about God\u2019s righteousness. We must not be easily angered. We may not be able to avoid being angry entirely, but being easily and frequently angered is not love. We must remember that love is not easily angered. We must pay attention to the Bible. \u201cBut now you must put them all away: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and obscene talk from your mouth\u201d (Colossians 3:8).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We must remember the teachings of the Bible. \u201cWhoever is patient has great understanding, but one who is quick-tempered displays folly\u201d (Proverbs 14:29). \u201cWhoever is slow to anger is better than the mighty, and he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city\u201d (Proverbs 16:32). We must control our emotions and minds by following the Word of God. We must be temperate and resist anger. Not being easily angered is wisdom. The Scripture tells us, \u201cA person&#8217;s wisdom yields patience; it is to one&#8217;s glory to overlook an offense\u201d (Proverbs 19:11). We must be careful not to be angry. We must resist anger and be patient. We must train ourselves to resist anger. We must pray in all situations. We must pray, \u201cGod, please help us resist anger. Help us to live with a mind of thankfulness. Help us to live in love.
