news. David\u2019s third son, Absalom, revolted against King David and became a king. However, in a battle between David\u2019s army and Absalom\u2019s army, David\u2019s side won. A messenger came to David and told him of their victory. David first inquired about his son Absalom\u2019s safety. David wanted to hear that his son Absalom was alive as much as he wanted to hear that they won. However, when he heard that Absalom died, he wailed aloud. It was bad news that he did not want to hear. People want to hear good news; and today\u2019s passage tells us about the good news.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The news of Jesus\u2019 birth was first told to shepherds. An angel brought good news to the shepherds who were in the vicinity. Angels are God\u2019s ministers. They also told news about Jesus\u2019 resurrection. They appeared at Jesus\u2019 tomb and told of his resurrection to Mary Magdalene. The birth of Jesus is applicable to everyone. He did not come only for the Israelites nor just for the caucasians. He was born for all people on earth. For everyone is a sinner, and they must be saved from their sins. Therefore, his gospel is just. The gospel is not just for certain individuals. Acceptance, selection, winning first place, gold medal, independence and freedom are for specific individuals and countries. But the Lord\u2019s gospel is for all people. Therefore, the gospel is for me, and Jesus was born for me.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The news of Jesus\u2019 birth is good news. This is not sad or distressful news. It is news that gives overflowing joy. There is no news that brings more joy than this. It is more delightful news than that of winning the lottery or being awarded a Nobel prize. This is news that removes eternal grief and brings eternal joy. Thus, we must rejoice in the birth of the Lord. The birth of Jesus is good news. It\u2019s news of blessing. Good news is one that brings fulfillment to hope, good results, and prosperity. The news of Christ\u2019s birth is news that sinners would be saved and receive eternal life. This is news that brings joy, laughter, and peace of mind. When we believe in Jesus who came to the world, we receive grace, peace, and joy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Verse 11 is about the good news. The \u201ctoday\u201d refers to the day Jesus was born, the day the shepherds heard the good news, December 25th. Jesus was born in the town of David. The town of David is Bethlehem. David was born and raised there. He became a shepherd and later a king. This reveals that Jesus who is to come as David\u2019s descendant is a good shepherd, and the king of kings. It was prophesied that Jesus would be born in Bethlehem (Micah 5:2). The coming of Jesus is a prophecy, the fulfillment of the Scriptures. The Scriptures were fulfilled through Jesus. We must believe that everything in the Scriptures gets fulfilled. Not only the birth of Jesus, but his second coming, final judgment, heaven and hell will all be fulfilled.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jesus came for us. Jesus who came for us died on the cross for us. Jesus did not seek his own good. Jesus sacrificed himself to save us. We must do the same. We must seek the good of others like the Lord did. We must sacrifice ourselves to save others. We must help our neighbors in need and save them. We who have received the Lord\u2019s grace must live for our brothers and neighbors.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jesus came as a Savior. There is no other Savior who was born in Bethlehem. The Lord is the one who saves people from sin and death. Jesus of the cross and the resurrection saved us from sin and death. Jesus lived the life of a Savior. He fulfilled the ministry of a Savior. Thus, we believe in Jesus as our Savior and are saved. Jesus is the Christ, the Lord of all things. Jesus who was born in Bethlehem according to the Scriptures is the Messiah. There is no other. Jesus is the Lord of all things and is above all things. All people and things in heaven and on earth are under the Lord\u2019s authority. Jesus is the Lord and the sovereign over all things (John 17:2). We must obey the Lord and please him.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Let us spread the joyful and good news of our Lord Jesus Christ\u2019s coming to the world for us. Let us tell our neighbors the gospel with great joy and thanksgiving. Let us imitate Jesus and love our brothers and neighbors. Let us comfort, help, and save those who are in hardship and distress. Let us spread Jesus and God\u2019s love, mercy, and compassion.
