7:14-18)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>People learn and obtain knowledge through education. Education starts from within the family. Parents raise children through discipline. Then the children receive education from kindergarten all the way to higher education. Without learning, people cannot know. Likewise, education in faith is a must for Christians. We learn from the Bible and the Lord, gaining knowledge about the life of faith and the truth. Today\u2019s passage talks about Jesus\u2019 teaching.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jesus went up to Jerusalem on the Jewish Festival of Tabernacles. The festival is from July 15 to 22, lasting eight days. It is a festival commemorating the days of exodus, when the Israelites came out of Egypt and lived in the wilderness for forty years in temporary shelters. The Jews celebrated the festival by constructing shelters with wood and living in them throughout the festival. During the festival, Jesus taught in the temple. One of the most important ministries of Jesus was to teach. Jesus taught the gospel of the kingdom of God to the Jews and his disciples. And the disciples taught others. These teachings happen in church. Education in church happens in Sunday school, youth ministry, young adult ministry, and adult ministry. They are crucial steps to executing Jesus\u2019 commands and teachings. Through these educations, we learn about God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, faith, Christian life, etc. Therefore, Jesus entrusted his disciples with teaching about what he said.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Jews were astonished at his teaching. They were asking each other how Jesus got such learning without being taught (15). <em>Without learning<\/em> means he did not receive any formal education. Without receiving proper education, it is difficult to attain literacy. Among Koreans who are older than eighty, there are many who do not know written Korean due to lack of formal education, even primary education. As they were listening to Jesus\u2019 teaching, the Jews were amazed that he got such learning without having been taught.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Verse 16 is about Jesus\u2019 answer to the Jews\u2019 response. Jesus says that his teaching is not from school or a human. In other words, he did not learn from someone else. His teaching was from God the Father who sent him. Jesus lived as human. However, Jesus is God the Son. He is the Almighty who was with the Father from eternity. Thus, Jesus did not gain knowledge through school education like humans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jesus only says what he has heard from his Heavenly Father. Jesus says, \u201c&#8230;I\u2026speak just what the Father has taught me\u201d (John 8:28). Jesus did not speak on his own but spoke the words of the Father. Jesus says that the Father commanded him to say what he has spoken (John 12:49). Jesus did not teach according to his intention and thoughts. He faithfully taught the Father\u2019s commands. So Jesus said that his words are the words of the Father who sent him (John 14:24). We must remember: the words of Jesus are the words of God. The words of Jesus and those of God are not separate.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Verses 17-18 are the application of today\u2019s passage. Jesus tells the crowd how to recognize&nbsp; whether his teaching came from God. We are able to know when we do the will of God. Jesus did the will of God. This is proven by the life that he lived according to the Scriptures. Jesus died on the cross according to God\u2019s will. The death on the cross was obedience to God\u2019s commands. If we want to do the will of God like Jesus, we must obey the word of Jesus, that is, the word of God.
