They were King David, King Solomon, King Hezekiah, and King Josiah, to name a few. God said that a king would emerge who will reign from David\u2019s throne. That king is Jesus Christ. Today\u2019s passage tells us about Jesus who came as a king. Not long before crucifixion, Jesus entered Jerusalem. Jesus sent two of his disciples and told them to bring a donkey and her colt so that Jesus could ride on it. Jesus rode a colt and entered Jerusalem to fulfill the prophecy (v4-5). Jesus entered Jerusalem as a king. What kind of king is Jesus?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jesus is an eternal king. The kings of this world are not eternal. They have a limited period of government. David became king at the age of 30 and governed for 40 years. When the kings of this world die, their government ends. However, Jesus is an eternal king. His government does not expire because Jesus lives eternally. Jesus transcends creation and time. So Jesus reigns in the past, present, and the future eternally beyond time. We are governed by the eternal king Jesus. Jesus is the king of kings. There are many kings in this world. During the monarchy era, each nation had a king. But there is a king of all kings. That king is Jesus. Jesus is king above kings. Jesus, the king of kings, reigns over every king, person, and creature. All creatures obey Jesus the king (Psalm 8:6, 1 Corinthians 15:27-28, Ephesians 1:22). Jesus calms the winds and the waves. Jesus even raised Lazarus from death to life. They all obeyed Jesus the king. Jesus is a king who controls life, death, blessings, and disasters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jesus is a king of humility (v5). Jesus the king of kings entered Jerusalem on a colt. Jesus who is worthy of dignity, glory and praise rode a colt. Jesus is a king who humbles himself. Jesus came from the highest heaven to the lowest earth. Jesus lowered himself and became obedient to death (Philippians 2:5-11). Jesus does not raise himself. Jesus serves from the lowest place. Jesus\u2019s kingship was kingship of humility. Jesus laid down his life for all people (Matthew 20:28). As Christians, we must also have the mind of Christ. We must be humble and ready to serve. We must become believers who serve in love.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jesus is a king of righteousness. Jesus is a righteous king who came to save the sinners. Through the power of crucifixion and resurrection, Jesus revealed God\u2019s righteousness. Jesus is a king who reigns in righteousness. In order to make us righteous, Jesus accomplished atonement through his blood. Thus, we must live a righteous life. Jesus is a king who came according to the Scriptures. We must imitate Jesus and live according to the Scriptures, according to the Lord\u2019s teachings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jesus is a king of peace. Jesus is our peace (Ephesians 2:14). Jesus washed away our sins through the blood of the cross. Jesus tore down the wall of sin that stood between us and God. As a result, we reconciled with God. This is why Jesus is the king of peace. The king of peace reigns in peace. We live with the peace that the Lord gives us. We must live with thankfulness for the Lord who is the king of peace.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jesus is the king of the Jews (Matthew 2:2, Matthew 27:11). According to the promise of the Scriptures, Jesus came as a king of the Jews. However, the Jews did not accept their king (John 1:11). Jesus is the king of all believers. Jesus is the king of all Christians whom he saved. Jesus reigns over his people who have the citizenship of heaven. We must serve our King Jesus with all our heart. We must obey the Lord\u2019s word, teachings and commands. Jesus reigns through the Holy Spirit and his Word in Christ. That is why we must obey the Lord\u2019sWord in the Holy Spirit. We must reflect the reign of Jesus in our lives. By doing so, we can exalt and glorify our King Jesus. We must be faithful to our duty as citizens of heaven.
