8:25-28)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Moses taught the Ten Commandments he received on Mount Sinai. The Israelites heard the Ten Commandments from Moses and learned from them. Moses did not relay his own words and thoughts. He taught the Word of God. The same goes with the ministry of Jesus. Today\u2019s passage describes the ministry of Jesus\u2019 teaching.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In verse 25, the Jews heard the word of Jesus. Jesus said, \u201cYou are from below; I am from above. You are of this world; I am not of this world. I told you that you would die in your sins; if you do not believe that I am he, you will indeed die in your sins\u201d (John 8:23-24). When the Jews heard this, they asked, \u201cWho are you?\u201d Jesus answered, \u201cJust what I have been telling you from the beginning.\u201d This statement can be understood in a few ways. It could mean the beginning of when the Jews started listening to Jesus, the beginning of when Jesus started his ministry (though they did not believe), or the beginning of when Jesus was referred to in the Old Testament.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When the Jews heard Jesus, they did not believe. That is why they are asking a question they shouldn\u2019t need to ask. When one does not believe in Jesus, they may ask meaningless questions. We can know about Jesus through faith. By believing in Jesus, we can understand the word of Jesus better. Without believing, it is hard to understand. That is why faith is so important. Faith is the way to know the Lord and receive eternal life. It is by faith that one is saved and can go to heaven. By faith, we receive the Lord\u2019s grace, mercy, blessings, and love.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In verse 26, Jesus says, \u201cI have much to say in judgment of you.\u201d Jesus came as the king of the Jews, the Messiah, and the Savior. As the Messiah written about in the Scriptures, Jesus has many things to say to the Jews about himself. Jesus tells the Jews that without believing in him, they will receive God\u2019s wrath, punishment and destruction. So Jesus tells them to repent and believe and be saved. Jesus speaks to us today through the Bible. We must believe in his word and obey. The word of Jesus checks our thoughts, speech, and actions and makes judgment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jesus says that God the Father who sent him is trustworthy. God who sent Jesus is eternally trustworthy. That is why we can completely believe and trust in him. The trustworthy God the Father sent His Son, Jesus Christ, who is the truth, to the world. God sent Jesus, the light of life, truth, goodness, and righteousness, to the world of darkness. We who believe in the trustworthy God and Jesus of the truth are also the light of the world. We must shine the light of truth and goodness to the world as Jesus did.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jesus says, \u201cwhat I have heard from him I tell the world\u201d (verse 26). Jesus speaks what he hears from the God the Father who sent him. Jesus never speaks his own words. He only speaks what God tells him to speak. That is why the word of Jesus is the Word of God. We hear the Word of God through Jesus. In order to hear the Word of God, we must hear the word of Jesus. We must also relay the word we have heard from Jesus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Jews did not understand the word of Jesus. They did not understand that Jesus was teaching the Word of God the Father. They did not hear the word of Jesus with faith but heard it in a worldly way. We must remember to hear the word of Jesus by faith. To understand the word of Jesus, we must believe. Jesus says in verse 28, \u201cWhen you have lifted up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am he.\u201d This means that after Jesus is crucified and resurrected according to the Scriptures and the words of the prophets are fulfilled, then the Jews will understand that Jesus is Christ the Lord. The book of Acts proves that this is true. Many Jews came to believe in Jesus of the cross and the resurrection after the apostles preached about Jesus. We have also come to believe that Jesus of the cross and the resurrection is the true Savior.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jesus says, \u201cI do nothing on my own but speak just what the Father has taught me.\u201d Jesus does not do anything according to his own will and thoughts. Jesus does not speak his own words. Jesus only speaks what he was taught by God. We must do the same. We must speak the word taught by Jesus. We must not speak our own words and thoughts. We are people of calling who were sent by Jesus to preach his word.
