He obeyed to be sacrificed as an offering. So Isaac received blessings from God. All he did prospered and he lived a long life, dying at the age of 180. The Old and the New Testaments talk about the duties of parents and children. What are the Bible\u2019s teachings that we should put into practice?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>God created people. He created women and men. A woman and man get married and form a family. The very first relationship according to God\u2019s Providence is the husband-wife relationship. The very first community is family. Many families came together to form a neighborhood; neighborhoods came together to form a city, and cities and regions unified to create a nation. God establishes and rules over all relationships and communities. God fulfills his will and plan through all relationships and communities. There is no establishment or community, including family, that stands apart from God\u2019s power and will. Therefore, we must obey the law and order of the nation that God has established. We must keep the rules and code of conduct within the community and family in which we belong. This is obeying the power of God.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We must learn and obey the Lord\u2019s teachings about all the relationships that God has created. The Lord\u2019s teachings show us the way to perfect relationships and communities according to God\u2019s will. Relationships and communities that deviate from the Bible\u2019s teachings aren\u2019t what God wants. The relationships and communities that God is pleased with and through which he is glorified are grounded in the Bible teachings. Perfect husband and wife relationship, parent-children relationship, friendship, neighborhood and colleague relationship are possible when we put the Word into practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Each of us is a member of the family community that God has established. Family is composed of parents and children. Our Lord teaches about family. What are the teachings that God gives us in the Lord Jesus? It first talks about the children\u2019s duty. The children\u2019s duty that God has determined is obedience. God teaches us that obeying the parents is children\u2019s duty. Disobedience to parents is resisting the familial order God has built. Children\u2019s disobedience is an act of demolishing the authority of parents God has established. Moreover, children\u2019s disobedience cannot maintain the right relationships with the parents. As a result, it is difficult for such a family to be established as one that is prosperous, peaceful, and full of grace and God\u2019s blessings. Jesus obeyed God the Father to death. And thus, he became an example of obedience. God is pleased with children who respect and obey their parents. Obedience pleases our Lord and our parents. When we obey our parents in all things, we become our Lord\u2019s joy. Obedience has the promise of long life and prosperity (Ephsians 6:3).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Bible talks about parents\u2019 duty to their children (v.21, Ephesians 6:1-2). Parents give birth to their children and raise them. God gave children as the Lord\u2019s heritage and reward (Psalms 127:3). Children aren\u2019t the parents\u2019 possession. Therefore, parents have the responsibility to nurture their children, who are God\u2019s heritage and reward, with the Word of God (Ephesians 6:4). Parents must teach and train their children with the Word of God from when they are young. Then they will never turn away from it (Proverbs 22:6). Parents should resist raising their children based on their own thoughts, goals, and values. Children, who are God\u2019s heritage, should prosper. Therefore, parents should make every effort to guide their children with the Word of God. Parents should also be exemplary. They should pray and read the Bible daily. They should become examples in faith, love, goodness, and thankfulness and teach them, making them stand as a person of Christ. Parents ought to do their best to teach the Word of God in any and all circumstances. Children\u2019s faith education starts from within the family. Therefore, parents have a duty to educate their children with the Bible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Parents should not discourage or embitter their children. They should be careful so that the children are not hurt by them. They should teach them with prayer and the Word so that they are not discouraged or embittered. Embittering and discouraging the children is not the right way to educate them. Through education of the Bible, parents should guide them to receive courage and encouragement, as well as develop a vision. They should lead them to become people that please God, living their lives as true Christians. Parents and children, members of a family established by God, should fulfill their duties. Children should obey their parents in all things and parents should be good examples to their children, teaching them the Word of God. Parents ought not to embitter or discourage their children.
