When a person commits a crime or violation, they are tried in court according to the law. When a driver violates the speed limit, they are cited according to the traffic law. Now there is the law of God. Every person will be judged according to the law of God based on the evidence of what they have done. And the One who administers the law of God is Jesus Christ. Today\u2019s passage says that Jesus Christ is the judge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jesus heard that the Pharisees had persecuted the blind man and thrown him out. The blind man believed that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God. However, the Pharisees persecuted the person of true faith because they themselves did not believe in Jesus. Persecutions are usually inflicted by unbelievers. People who do not know or believe Jesus persecute believers. The blind man was shunned by people. However, Jesus did not forsake him. Even though people may shun or forsake us, Jesus will not forsake us. He receives us with joy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jesus asks the blind, \u201cDo you believe in the Son of Man?\u201d (v.35). Jesus asks the blind man if he believes in the one who enabled him to open his eyes as the Messiah. Even today, Jesus asks us, \u201cDo you believe in me as Christ the Son of God?\u201d Jesus wants faith from us. Jesus requires faith even now. He does not look at moral action, status, situation or academic standing. Jesus wants our faith toward him. And we must answer him with faith. The blind man responds, \u201cLord, who is he? Tell me so that I may believe in him\u201d (v.36). The blind man had the mind to believe Jesus as Christ the Savior. We also must believe in the Lord as our Savior from our heart.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The blind man had not yet seen Jesus, because he did not see him after he had opened his eyes. Jesus says to the man, \u201cYou have now seen him; in fact, he is the one speaking with you\u201d (v.37). The blind man says, \u201cLord, I believe.\u201d The man believed that Jesus, who healed and saved him, was Christ the Savior and worshipped him. We must also thank and worship Jesus our Savior for delivering us through the blood of the cross and the power of the resurrection. Jesus is worthy of receiving all honor, glory, praise, and thanksgiving.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jesus says, \u201cFor judgment I have come into this world, so that the blind will see and those who see will become blind\u201d (v.39). Jesus is the Judge of all people, whether living or dead. Jesus is the Righteous Judge. Every person must stand before the Lord on the day of judgment. And Jesus the Judge will judge everyone according to what they have done. He will judge based on his Word. He will enable the blind to see and make those who see blind.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Pharisees did not believe, even though they saw Jesus. They refused to believe even after hearing the words of Jesus and seeing the miracles he performed. Though seeing, they could not see; though hearing, they could not hear. They are blind men with open eyes. Even today, many people hear but do not believe. They are like the blind with open eyes. They do not believe even after hearing about Jesus\u2019 miracles. In the end, they live in darkness like the blind. They are spiritually blind. However, we hear and believe in the words of Jesus and the miracles he performed. We are not spiritually blind. Faith opens the eyes of the blind. We can open our spiritual eyes through faith. Our spiritual vision gets better when we obey the Lord\u2019s word.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When the Pharisees heard Jesus, they said, \u201cAre we blind too?\u201d (v.40). They are not understanding what Jesus is saying. When a person does not believe in Jesus, they fall into spiritual ignorance. They lack wisdom and understanding. They cannot understand the word of the Lord. We are able to know the word of the Lord by receiving the Holy Spirit with faith. Faith is the path to knowing the Lord. We can understand his words when we believe.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jesus says to the Pharisees, \u201cIf you were blind, you would not be guilty of sin; but now that you claim you can see, your guilt remains\u201d (v.41). This is the meaning of what Jesus said. If the Pharisees were blind and their eyes were opened through faith, they would not be guilty of sin. However, they claimed they could see but did not believe. Therefore, their sins remain and are not forgiven. Sin is forgiven through faith. Without believing, sin remains, because the forgiveness of sins through the blood of the cross is revealed only through faith. Sin is not cleansed through moral deeds, conscience, or effort. Therefore, we believe in Jesus Christ the Son of God to receive forgiveness of sins and deliverance.
