Others tell the son that he looks exactly like his father. People resemble their parents. So we think that when we see the children, we can see their parents. Today\u2019s passage tells us the way to see the Father. What is the way to see God that Jesus teaches us?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jesus says to his disciples, \u201cIf you really know me, you will know the Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him\u201d (v.7). Jesus\u2019 disciples knew him because he was always with them. They knew that Jesus was Christ, the Son of God. They believed in Jesus and followed him. Moreover, they knew that the Father sent him. They saw the miracles Jesus performed and received his teaching. They are Jesus\u2019 witnesses. Therefore, Jesus tells them that because they have known him, they have known God the Father as well. The disciples know the Son Jesus and, at the same time, God the Father. Jesus tells them \u201cFrom now on, you do know him and have seen him.\u201d That is, we know the Father as we know the Son. To know the Father, we must know the Son.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, Philip says to Jesus, \u201cLord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us\u201d (v.8). The point of Philip\u2019s statement is that since they have not seen the Father, he would like Jesus to show him to them. Philip did not clearly understand Jesus\u2019 words. Jesus told them that they have seen the Father. We can speculate that, after hearing what Jesus told them, Philip asked Jesus to show them the Father so they could see with their eyes. However, the Bible says we cannot see God with human eyes (1 Timothy 6:16). Philip is in the position to learn more about the meaning of Jesus\u2019 words from him. The same goes for us. We cannot fully understand the word of the Lord. So we have questions and ask them. We must strive to clearly understand the word of the Lord we do not yet know. We should not just ignore the word of the Lord we don\u2019t fully understand, but we must learn from the Lord. We must pray, ask, and seek help from the Lord. Then the Lord will make known to us the meaning of his words.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jesus answers Philip, \u201cDon\u2019t you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, \u2018Show us the Father?\u201d (v.9). Philip is one of Jesus\u2019 twelve disciples. As one of the Chosen, he was with Jesus for three years. He accompanied Jesus day and night. He witnessed all the ministry of Jesus. He heard and learned the words of Jesus. He saw the miracles and signs Jesus performed. The miracles of Jesus showed who Jesus was. What he did was not done by human power. They were done by the power of God. They can only be done by Jesus, the Son of God. The entire ministry of Jesus is achieved through the power of God the Father. Therefore, Jesus said that those who have seen him have seen the Father.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jesus was sent by the Father. He is Christ the Savior, the Son of God whom God sent. God who sent him was always with him. Jesus preached the exact words of the Father. He performed miracles and signs according to God\u2019s will. He did not do anything on his own. Thus, the works of Jesus are the works of God. The Son\u2019s ministry is the ministry of the Father. Jesus is the Father\u2019s faithful witness. Jesus clearly showed the Father through his ministry. Therefore, those who have seen him have seen the Father. We do not see God with our eyes. We do not hear God\u2019s voice directly. We hear the voice of God through Jesus Christ, the Son of God. The way to see God is to see the Son Jesus. To go to the Father, we must believe in Jesus. There is no other way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jesus says, \u201cDon\u2019t you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you I do not speak on my own authority. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work\u201d (v.10). We must pay careful attention to Jesus\u2019 words. Jesus is in the Father, and the Father is in him. That is, the Son is in the Father, and the Father is in the Son. Therefore, Jesus says that he and the Father are one (John 17:21-22). The ministry of Jesus is the ministry done with the Father, who is in him. The ministry of Jesus is the ministry of God. He spoke the exact words of God. Thus, the words of Jesus are the words of the Father. The Father is in Jesus. And Jesus is doing the work of the Father, who is in him.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Therefore, Jesus says, \u201cBelieve in me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe in the evidence of the works themselves\u201d (v.11). We must believe in the words of Jesus. We must believe that Jesus is in the Father and the Father is in Jesus. Then we will know that the works of Jesus are the works of God. And we will know the words and ministry of God through the words and ministry of Jesus. Moreover, we will know God through the ministry of Jesus (v.11), because the ministry of Jesus is the ministry of God. The way to know and see God is through Jesus.
