class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some people say, \u201cI am distressed to the point of death. My heart is troubled.\u201d People instinctively pursue peace of mind and life. Most people do not want a life without peace. What is the true peace that people can enjoy? Today\u2019s passage talks about this.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There are three aspects to peace. There is peace in regard to relationship, to the environment, and to the internal self. There is a peaceful relationship with other people. If the relationship between a couple is peaceful, they have little to no conflicts, frictions, or discord. Couples who argue and clash every day do not have a peaceful relationship. There are families that have peaceful relationships. There are relationships in which the parents and children, friends, neighbors, and countries get along peacefully.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There is also environmental peace. Such are environments in which there is no anxiety or fear. Environments that give fear are not peaceful. If there is a sudden accident, peace vanishes. When we are unhealthy, we don\u2019t feel peace. They bring anguish and worries to our hearts. When we encounter problems related to our kids, work, or finances, peace goes away. When children trouble their parents, peace is disrupted. On the contrary, we have peace when things go according to our desires. When we go to the dream college, get a dream job, and fulfill our hope, we have peace in our heart. When we are accepted to the school we eagerly wanted, we rejoice. Fulfillment of hope lightens our heart and fills it with peace. It is the feeling of being liberated from oppression. But adverse situations cause anxiety, trouble, and psychological pressure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There is also internal peace. It is the peace of the heart. When people say they feel peace, they are referring to the peace of their mind. People say it is worth living when their heart is at peace. No matter how good an environment they live in, life feels tough when their heart is without peace. When our heart is peaceful, life feels gracious and joyful. The peace that Jesus is referring to in today\u2019s passage is the peace of the heart. The Old Testament generally talks about environmental peace. God gave peace by protecting the Israelites from their enemies. The New Testament talks of internal peace. Though the environment may be adverse, we can have peace of mind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To whom is the peace of Jesus given? Firstly, it is given to those who believe in the Lord Jesus Chirst as the Savior. The peace of the Lord is not given to the unbelievers. The Lord\u2019s peace is peace one can receive only when they believe. The Lord\u2019s peace is given to those whose sins are forgiven. The Lord\u2019s peace is given to those whose sin has been washed by the blood of the Lord\u2019s crucifixion. The Lord\u2019s peace is given to those who are made righteous by their faith in Jesus Christ. The Lord\u2019s peace is given to those who have received the power of forgiveness of sin through the Lord Jesus Christ\u2019s crucifixion and the resurrection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Lord\u2019s peace is given by the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the spirit of peace. The God and Lord of peace gives us peace through the spirit of peace, the Holy Spirit. Thus peace is one of the nine fruits of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit comes into our heart and gives us peace. The Lord\u2019s peace is different from the worldly peace. Worldly peace is environmental peace. It is peace without forgiveness of sin. There is no true peace where there is sin and wickedness (Isaiah 48:22). There is peace where there is righteousness. The Lord\u2019s peace belongs to heaven. It is not from the earth. The Lord\u2019s peace is the peace that comes from heaven in the Lord.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Lord\u2019s peace comes to our heart. \u201cLet the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace.
